Travel fantasy: Shelter Co.

Do you like camping? I've never been a huge camper, but Shelter Co. looks pretty amazing. It's a pop-up lodging service, born out of a nostalgia for the days of summer camp. They set up fully furnished European-style canvas tents, complete with Pendleton blankets, a carpeted floor and bedside tables, and you just show up to stargaze, roast marshmallows and play games. It's like camping for wusses! Just my style!

Thoughts? Do you like camping or not so much?

P.S. More travel fantasies...

Pools!

Can you believe we're only one day away from September?! This summer flew by. To keep the summery mood going, here are 8 incredible pools around the world…Have you been to any? Which one would you want to dip into?

From top: Berlin, Victoria Falls on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe (see more insane photos here), Singapore, Portugal, Chile, Sydney, Utah and Bali.

Travel fantasy: Rainbow hotel

When we go to Palm Springs for Christmas, we usually rent a house, but this new rainbow Saguaro hotel looks like a trip! What a cool place to stay (or even get married).

Travel fantasy: Yurts

My twin sister and her husband took a weekend getaway to Big Sur and stayed in a yurt! They said it was one of their coolest vacations. How invigorating to spend the day hiking and swimming, and in the evening, you can drink wine on your deck, breathe the salty air, and watch the sunset. Yurts also seem like a great baby step for those of us who aren't big campers: You get to be in nature and sleep in a bed. Good for wusses!

Have you ever stayed in a yurt? Would you want to? Big Sur looks incredible.

P.S. More travel fantasies, and are you the camping type?

Travel fantasy: Haven in Paris

Have you seen the beautiful Parisian apartments from Haven in Paris? On vacation, I love staying in apartments versus hotels, since you feel like an insider (and can pretend that you live there:). You could have adventures around town, eat stinky cheeses on your balcony, have dinner at a neighborhood restaurant, then read books and curl up in your own comfy bed. Who's in?!

P.S. Look at the views from the windows, yowza!

Travel fantasy: Maine cottages

How's this for a romantic travel fantasy: A weekend at the Cabot Cove cottages in Kennebunkport, Maine. You stay in a private cottage, and breakfast arrives at your door each morning. For the rest of the day, you hike to lighthouses, swim, sail, go whale-watching, drink wine in Adirondack chairs, and eat lobster for dinner. Wouldn't you love to go with your partner? :)

P.S. Maine-scented perfume.

Travel fantasy: Rock Restaurant

Wow, how's this for a travel fantasy: The Rock Restaurant is an amazing seafood shack perched on a rock in the Indian Ocean. Depending on the tide, you either walk, swim or row a boat to it!

Who's game?

P.S. More dream vacations...

Travel Fantasy: Lighthouse

Would you like to spend the night in a lighthouse? The Saugerties Lighthouse, a couple hours north of New York City, has two cozy guest rooms. You hike a half mile through the woods to reach it, and then you can sit on the water, relax and drink wine in the evening. The town of Saugerties also has great restaurants, so you could go out to dinner and then sneak back through the woods at night!

P.S. More travel fantasies...
