First off, she married a graphic designer (smart call!), so they designed their invitations together. Their friend Catherine Thompson painted their incredible portrait. ("We wanted to marry her, too," says Emma.)
They typed each invitation individually. Very Wes-Anderson-chic.
They also made buttons of their cute faces.
Then they had the intimate wedding ceremony at Emma's family's house in New York. Emma wore a ban.do headband. Michael did not.
They're friends with Stephin Merritt (!!) who sang "Walking My
Gargoyle" as Emma's dad walked her down the aisle and "You You You You You" during the ceremony. Then a few friends read Frank O'Hara's "Having a Coke with You," David Sedaris's essay "The End of the Affair," and the last paragraph of Jane Austen's Emma.
Afterwards, they all headed down to Mary's Fish Camp for lobster rolls.
Emma and Michael are the cutest, laughingest couple. Wasn't their wedding amazing?!
