Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Where will you be having dinner this year? We'll be in Brooklyn with friends and a fireplace.

I'll be experimenting by turning off my computer for the rest of the week (we'll see how it goes; I doubt I can make it), but feel free to browse back through Cup of Jo or Smitten, if you'd like!

Also, I'm loving 1001 Rules for My Unborn Son. Mick Jagger made a cute groom, don't you think? And my blogger friend Leigh's husband just took her on a surprise trip--but where?!

Have a great week. See you Monday. xo

The three best scary movies for dates. Do you agree?

Which of these three date outfits would you wear?

John Krasinski has a new girlfriend. Sad.

Where are you heading for Thanksgiving?

Wedding Dress

I'm loving this dress from British designer Stewart Parvin. Have you guys seen any similar dresses in stores? Or do you know anyone who does custom dresses? I'd love to figure out a way to create or find this look. Not-too-expensive wedding dresses are hard to find!
(Thank you, Martha)

Have a wonderful weekend.

Have a great weekend, my lovelies. What are you up to? Alex and I are having a little dinner party tomorrow night, and I'm going to shop for a dress this evening. (Maybe this one?) Anyway, here are a few fabulous posts from around the web this week...

Grace goes to the library.

When I was feeling sad yesterday, this post helped lots.

Take that, co-workers!

The same model--at 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 years old.

Liking these Sydney Opera photos. (P.S. I love when a city showcases its talents like this.)

Regarding yoga, my thoughts exactly.

Could (gasp) Domino close?

This is a sweet house, owned by a dude and his dog.

Shaving beards is so funny! (Reminds me of Alex...)

Wouldn't you love to travel here? Filed under "dream vacation."

Cute dress, via Alyson.

Why do little dudes get all the good chairs?

I love colored jeans. There, I said it.

A great blog that you might like.

My favorite Nie Nie post.

P.S. My 2008 holiday gift guide is coming soon, so please stay tuned! xoxo

Waterfall Madness...

Every September and December, people are allowed to swim right to the edge of Victoria Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in the world. The area you swim in is called Devil's Pool. Eeps! I can barely ride an elevator, so I'd never do it, but would you?

Genius wedding idea: Go swimming!

Are you happy with your breast size?

Tummy rubs! (They're better than massages.)

Have you ever had someone close to you die?

Bow Ties for Ladies.

A while ago, on Smitten, I wrote about the new trend of girls wearing bow ties. I wasn't totally sold--until I saw this bow tie from Lark. How gorgeous is it? And it's wool! Wouldn't it be fun to wear to holiday parties?

Wintertime Blues

Do you get sad in the winter? During the cold dark days, I often get quiet and melancholy, and I don't feel like myself. But this winter, I'm trying to brainstorm ways to make the season brighter and happier.

* hosting movie nights with friends
* making chili with lots of sour cream
* lighting candles
* going ice skating
* staring at a light box (we have one and it seems to work)
* drinking wine
* stringing white fairy lights all over the apartment

What do you do? I'd love to hear your tips. xo

New York has a genius feature called The Look Book. It's like a centerfold, but instead of showing a naked woman, they feature a stylish person. Above is Tom, a trial lawyer, and below is couple Tasha and D.W. Fabulous, right? It's totally addictive. Find more here.
P.S. Remember this gorgeous mom and baby?

Photo Love

Porter Hovey takes rad polaroids, and Alex and I were lucky enough to get in the way of her camera a few weeks ago.

Also, here is a close-up of my engagement ring, for those who asked! It's an antique ring that has been in my family for generations and generations. There are three sapphires surrounded by diamonds.

The man who gave it to me.

How I always feel when I'm around him.

Before walking down the aisle...

When I daydream about our wedding, I always imagine walking down the aisle and seeing Alexei standing there, suited up and smiling. (It makes me giddy just typing that!) So I loved seeing a post on Peonies and Polaroids about the magical moments before walking down the aisle. See the giddy and lovely photos on Smitten.
