Do or Don't: Linen bedding

Have you ever slept in linen sheets? When I was in my twenties, I scored some at a sample sale and they were unbelievably soft and airy. It felt like sleeping on clouds. I don't have them anymore, but now that the weather is warm, I'm thinking how lovely it would be to sleep in linen bedding again. The catch is that they're inordinately expensive, although Restoration Hardware has their linen sheets on sale.

What kind of sheets do you like? Would you splurge on linen bedding?
